Random pics from in and around the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta (Maine)

Its hard to capture the scope of a fleet of 110+/- wooden sailboats and their "tenders" and hangers-on with a cheap camera. For this forum, I tried to concentrate on the stink pots vs. the blowboats. Sorry about any repeats and the sheer number of photos.

Wow, what a rich collection of boats. Rarely, we get to see one or two such boats in Biscayne Bay in weeks of cruising. Most of what we have down here are the big bars of soap, if you know what I mean. One day, I'll be up there for such an event....Maybe Newport this year.

Many years later, I come to realize how things converted together. I ended up building a wooden Trawler

Portuguese. Very, very nice. As a former wooden boat owner, I appreciate your grandfather's statement. If I had unlimited money, I would build in wood myself, using modern construction methods. What kind of woods are you using. Are you coldmolding?

How did you post so many pics** ..over 50. I usually do 4 at a time. But it would take a long time to post 50. I have Hughs-Net and a big new i-mac. I especially like #7. Marin should too. It's a Huckins. They built PT boats in the war. The cabins are stogy but they still look good** ...I think. Wonderful very hard chine hull. I think they are all double diagonally planked hulls.

Huckins made wonderful boats but their PT boats were crap.* The Navy ordered a handful of them before the war*and soon found they were worthless for anything other than harbor patrol.* They were undoubtedly very well made but they couldn't get out of their own way and were totally unsuited for the PT mission.* The Navy didn't order any more of them.

Decks e Piso internos Angelim pedra
Cola 100% Epoxi em todas as juntas e tambem para impregnação
O Barco e coberto com fibra de vidro do lado de fora, e com epoxy do lado de dentro

The boat is being built with the following woods:
Structure pieces Mahogany and Red Cedar
Plywood laminated Marine grade (1/16 layers) of Red and Yellow Cedar
Keel and side shocks Angelim Pedra wood with the same physical specs of Teek
Decks and floors Angelim Pedra
Glue 1005 Epoxy to glue and impregnation.
The boat is covered with FG in the outside and epoxy in the inside
