We've Just returned from a cruise among the Slate Islands of Lk Superior, after towing the DuNORD up to Terrance Bay, ON (nearby). Every aspect of the trip fell nicely into place, towing up around the west end of Lk Superior thru Duluth, camping overnight at the KOA in Thunder Bay (using boat as an RV), weather (benign), temperatures (cool), you name it.
Now we're contemplating a weekend in October on the N & S Branches of the Chicago River, berthing Sat night at the 31st St Marina (berths easier to secure compared to Monroe St Harbor), and am wondering how far up the N Branch and S along the Ship Canal we might expect to explore in our Albin-25 for a day-long adventure?
We've already done the outstanding Architectural Cruise as advertised on WTTW. This will be more of a DIY exploration, just because Chicago is THERE, only 85 miles down the road from Rockford, and it's a World-Class city.
