Great day .Iam looking at purchasing a 1981 37ft cooper seabird. Does anyone know of any problems with this boat.would be much appreciated.

Welcome.

Is the Cooper Seabird a powerboat or a sailboat? The reason that I ask, is that if it is a sailboat, the perhaps Cruisersforum.com would be a better venue to ask specific questions of this boat as they are more sailboat centered.

The Seabird is indeed a sailboat and was very popular along the BC coast back in its day. I only heard good things about it other than it sailed like a piano. But that was from a racing sailor.

I have know a couple folk with these, the pilothouse???? model.
One fellow used to take folk out on teaching cruises.
All of them said they were pleased with the boat but they were not racers, they were not great sailers.
Other wise they had been happy with them. Just the age creeping up on them so as long as you pay attention and you are not a racer they could be a good boat.

So you know, I am not a sailor, never have been, and never actually been aboard one, a Seabird. Just seen and talked to them and knew some of the owners.
