Problem with Yachtworld

When I set up a YW search with multiple criteria, it is deleted completely when I try to return to the search after having checked out an individual vessel. So no matter what I have determined to be my search parameters, I am taken back to multimillion dollar vessels. Does anyone have any advice? I am using the Chrome browser. It used to be so easy to review vessels on YW, but apparently not any more!!

When you go to Yachtworld select the Great Britain or England version. It still has the advanced search feature. You will need to switch from meters to feet and pounds to US dollars. For some reason they took the advanced search from the US version, although I have not checked lately to see if it is back, I just use the English version.

If I could rank websites, I would rank the current version of Yachtworld as one of the worst I have ever seen.

I go to the UK version of the site so often that as soon as I type Ya it takes me there. I have not tried the US version in months.

You have to type the "a"?

I'm with you on the YW UK. The US version not only lacks Advanced Search but I can't even see the main boat photos in a list of results. I live in fear of them dumbing down the UK version to match the US one

I hope they don’t. I am not sure I could get along without my daily dose of boat porn..

While everything others have said about yw.com is true, to answer the OP's question, right click on a boat you'd like to review, and open it in another window or tab. The original listing will remain. This works with any site with multiple items to choose from, even TF.

I can’t believe they have their head so far up that they don’t see the problem...

They probably see it and heard of it but just don't care. This is a UK outfit that views American consumers as a mob of loonies.

I've been using au.yachtworld.com. It does what I want. The US version doesn't. Weird.

I actually sent in feedback to Yachtworld. They sent me a standard reply, bla, bla, bla. Obviously they didn’t care. This was before I discovered that the UK version still worked, I was almost frantic since I couldn’t look at boats for sale...

Also, FWIW, Google Chrome works infinitely better with YW than Internet Explorer.

Now if we could just click on the photos, enlarge, and zoom in... a guy can dream of the day that will be possible.

Oh wait, it's NOT 1995 anymore

I use Boattrader sometimes, wish they had better ways to display info on equipment. I know it is up to the owner. I have sold the last 2 boats through them, but if they would have a format that would walk the seller through to get consistent and better info into the listing.

In Chrome on a laptop/desktop system, right click on the boat-to-be-viewed link and then select open in a new tab.

I have seen boats on Yachtworld that were not on Boattrader. Not sure why. ComoDave has great advice on this matter. Using the UK version of the search gets you the old advanced search function. I too sent an email to Yachtworld and got some meaningless auto reply. My sense is that Yachtworld exists to solely aid boat brokers. Somehow the advanced search function must not be in the brokers best interest. Anything that makes it possible to find a boat without the aid of a broker might be considered counter productive. This of course only applies to the buyers broker. It would seem the sellers broker would want you to find the boat. Finally after a few years I have signed a contract for purchase on a boat. I gave up on the traditional trawler as I was unable to find one that met my needs at a price I could afford. A gas powered Chris Craft that checked all the boxes minus diesel. It was listed as pending on Yachtworld for some time. I sent an email to the broker to keep my name if the sale stalled. I got an email a month or so later. Sea trial in ten days. No Yachtworld, no purchase. Bill

As someone that's run websites in the past, with advanced search functionality, you would not believe how many ways people will set up dumb-ass repeated search queries that crucify the database performance. At a certain point the bots overwhelm legit users and it's better to take advanced search offline, or hide it behind a login (and eventually a paywall).
