RE: Photo Gallery - All Members Boats

Thanks guys! "Royann" is still painted on her but she has been renamed the same as all of our previous boats "Amazing Grace". She is a DeFever 48 1981. Art DeFever says it's one of his best designs. She known as being a great sea boat. The low center of gravity and the 8' high bow plus lots of reserve boyancy forward really is a joy.

*Whoa, Carl.* Here is an example of a project designed by one of our local architects, so I naturally assumed that all projects designed by architects are tasteful.* Go figure!

Don, I saw that house on ebay a while ago...signal mountain I think? I think you should adopt that architecture for your next development.....jet packs optional.

Picked a slightly better pic. Thanks Old Stone. I do like her bow and I must admit I never noticed the forward motion to the degree it appears at this particular angle. I always noticed the lack of height and sense of balance.

Usually I'd agree w Walt on this one but the DF looks really right w her fwd slanting eave supports mostly because the rest of the lines support it. The boat is a maze of slanting lines and they all sing a ballad of ecstasy in visual perception. How's that for praise. I think these DeFevers all have a visual harmony and correctness that is not unlike what we all seem to find so appealing in the Fleming. Not my favorite boat though. That's been the Nordhavn 46 for a long time. And my favorite obtainable boat is still the ND 32.

This boat (Delia Rosa) is the same as the one that sunk near Thorne Bay. Sea Ranger 47. The boat was scraped and is for sale by the insurance co presumably in Ketchikan. Diver, are you ready for another project? Got 10' itus?

Hello to the group.* New member here with a Willard 30/4.* I'll try to add a photo here.* It is a 1977 model with a perkins 4-108 for power.* We just finished a trip from La Conner, where she is moored to Desolation Sound, Princess Louisa and other stops on the way.

Looking forward to the group.

RE: Photo Gallery - All Members Boats

Greetings Keith,

I've heard about you from the Hoveters. Seems your'e at LaConner too. We spent much time there in the recent past. And now that youv'e got serious summer temps down there wer'e in the 50s w lots of rain. I see you've got the 8 ton sailboat keel w the 30/4 house. How on earth did that happen? Is your'e boat a "one off"? We had an Albin 25 also. Dan Pease is here, Rob and Anne Hays are here and aloaboat (Patrick) is here. I'm the only Willardite that posts regularly on TF. As with WBO (I assume your there (I don't post there much)) the archives are an encyclopedia of knowledge of Willarding and trawlering. I once went half way through the WBO posts. This forum is much much more interactive and social than WBO. Perhaps you'll run north w the Hoverters next summer. Richard Packard has been to Thorne Bay numerous times. He is hauled at Wrangell for the winter now. Anyway I'm glad your'e here now* ..more Willard power. Are you on FB? I have several hundred pics of SE Alaska there.

RE: Photo Gallery - All Members Boats

Hello Eric,

I'm not sure I know the Hoveters.* But I am pretty sure I do not remember everyones name as well as I should.* I don't think ours is a one off, Clyde Ford, the author, had one just like ours.* Ours was originally owned by Jack Hochadel, the VP of Willard. Ours is unusual in that the engine is out under the cockpit floor and has a v-drive.* Plus we draw 4'11" and have a larger rudder and I think a little more ballast too.* We've only owned the boat since the end of May and are figuring things out about her.* We'll soon change the name from "Tub Toy" to "Kingfisher" with the appropriate ceremony and spirits.

I am on facebook, I'll try to find your page.* The WBO is a great resource and I have used it some.* Our boat needs some TLC and we'll be working on it to get it back in shape.* Our Albin is in excellent condition and a great boat for our first diesel cruiser.* We love your paint job.* I'm not sure how far north we'll get next summer, at least back to Desolation.* Want to work our way up to the Broughtons soon after that and maybe someday Alaska.* We'd love to fish there and cruise that area sometime.

*

Keith

What an amazing ship you have there, Mark!!! I would love to have one too. It's exactly what we want to upgrade to... The V-berth would be our only hang up. I think we'll want an aft cabin when the time comes. But still... !!!!!

Thanks Gonzo but our aft cabin is nearly 15' wide with a walk around standard Queen, a powder room head and a full head all with eight ports. Forward are two staterooms and a head with seperate tub/shower. The pictures are of sister ships.
