The propane oven in our Willard 30 makes a substantial "woof" sound each time the burner cycles. Is this common? It is scary for new crew to hear this and anticipate the boat blowing up.

I gotta admit, i was laughing when i read this. (I would feel the same way)

Have no experience in alcohol stoves other then to remove them or ignore them. (I don't live aboard but when on a trip I just use a little butane countertop stove)

Alcohol was such a PITA for me. I look forward to hearing folks with more experience.

Good luck

A little confused, what do "alcohol stoves" have to do with the OP about propane stoves.............:banghead:

I do not have an oven that cycles the flame to maintain the temp. But it sounds the same as when lighting a BBQ. Gas is released and when it finds the ignition source there is a poof as the excess is burned.

So it is probably as designed.
Should the oven door open/close when this happens then worry. IMO

Just name it Puff The Magic Dragon and don’t worry.
