I thought I would drop an 'end of the first season post' as we prepare to haul for the Summer here in Guaymas.
Today was crossing day and the first real sea trial for Domino in terms of a bit of slop in the sea state. It was just me and a couple of these shrimpers loaded to the gunwales coming out of Bahia Coyote bound for Guaymas. Second picture tries to show the sea state but that never works in photos so see the instruments and you can do the math. Wind was just over 20 knots from around 125 degrees and heading was 30 degrees so seas near 90 degrees off of port. On the chart, we are 40 miles off shore, fetch is over 300 miles, and there are around 1000 fathoms below her keels.
DOMINO was convincing. It was a pretty nice ride at just over 11 knots under those conditions.
We cannot wait to get back to the Sea of Cortez in November though we plan to enjoy plenty of cold water cruising up North this Summer.
We based out of La Paz all season this year but will start the season next year out of Puerto Escondido and move down to La Paz around Christmas.

Escort at 12 knots....

I ran across this video today searching for something else.
This went on for 15-20 minutes and by the end there must have been a hundred of them. They came from multiple directions as we entered Bahia Coyote in the Sea of Cortez the day before crossing day in May.
