We just acquired a Newport Catalina inflatable (inflated keel, marine plywood sole-boards). We are hoisting to the dinghy deck on our 46’ Sea Ranger, using padeyes in the transom and a reinforced D-ring on the bow. Due to the location of the D-ring, the bridal compresses the bow compartment, so we are using a 2x4 to distribute the load while hoisting. We find this to be sub-optimal and are looking to brainstorm a way to hoist the bow of this boat. The sole boards are not load bearing, and we feel a D-ring on the interior of the bow compartment may be too perpendicular to the tube.
