Navy Fleet Review in Sydney October 3-11

The USS Chosin will represent USA at the October International Fleet Review in Sydney Australia. The assembly of 20 Naval vessels and 16 Tall Ships, from various navies, marks the arrival of the first Royal Australian Navy Fleet into Sydney 100 years ago, just in time for WW1.
9 of the tall ships are Australian, others from NZ (2), Netherlands (3), UK, Canada. Navies represented are China, Singapore, Malaysia, UK, NZ, India, USA, Japan, Nigeria, Indonesia, France, Brunei, Spain. Russia pulled out over Syrian tensions, 2 Canadian vessels cancelled after colliding. The Chinese won`t allow public inspections.
The ships will enter harbour in a parade, the tall ships on the 3rd October will be especially spectacular; the Naval ships enter on the 4th. There will be a formal Royal review, a fireworks display, helicopter and fixed wing flypasts, public inspections of ships, a city parade, Memorial services, and other events over the days .
As always, Sydney warmly welcomes visiting sailors.

We were scheduled to go to Australia back in about '81 but the ship had boiler problems so we had to spend a month in Subic while they fixed it. AU had the reputation of welcoming American sailors very warmly, it was a stop I wish we had been able to make. There was one story of a sailor "dropping" a wrench in the reduction gears just so they could stay, no idea how true it was.
