I have written posts about my solo with dog adventure. Today was a big day for a dog that had never been on a golf cart a dock or moving in a boat. She was not sure at first when we got under weigh and laid down in the salon. After about an hour she came up to the wheelhouse and I hoisted her up onto the watch berth. After I gave her some attention she relaxed and rested. Once back to the dock she was fine. I brought her back this evening as a test and she was fine. I got lucky with this dog.

Wonderful! Good for her, and it might not be long until "boat" will be a favorite word for her!

Our dog, Radar, loves the boat too. All you have to say id “Let’s go to the boat” and he takes off to it.

As they say with dogs... once is a habit... so I'd say you are well on your way to having a great first mate... or first mutt??
Ours gets excited when we pull into the park the marina is part of. Not a big fan (so far) of swimming but very comfortable on the boat and underway. First lock through was another boating experience but second time was a piece of cake.

My parents had a beagle that was a typical beagle and quite often run off into the woods. Calling him did nothing, starting the outboard motor got him coming on the run.

Radar is obsessed with hammers. When he won’t come, one bang on the workbench with a hammer and he comes hauling ass…

Our Shizu "Pirate" would sit by the front door when the wife put the "boat bag" there to get ready to go. Even if it were hours, he wouldn't budge.

Our poodle "Xander" absolutely loves the boat. He's got incredible sea legs too, as conditions that we think are pretty miserable are just a fun ride to him. Even when laying down leads to sliding around on the deck. We got lucky with him, as he was 4 years old before he ever saw a boat, but he immediately took to it, swimming included.
