On a month-long trip to the Broughtons we took the full set of the Foyle's War series from PBS. Grandkids loved the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The Commodore voted for An Affair to Remember in the three hankie tear-jerker category.

I didn't know about a mini series, but the book is something that every mariner with an interest in history should read.

Seriously, the book is outstanding. Not fiction, but extremely well written history. Well worth reading.

The 1975 Peckinpah movie The Killer Elite has scenes near/at its conclusion picturing a two-masted sailboat in San Francisco and Suisun bays, featuring the mothball fleet in its 1970s glory (less than ten ships currently). The thing that bugged me, however, was the closing scene with the boat going east under the Benicia Bridge into Suisun Bay when in the previous scenes the boat was in Suisun Bay where the fleet is located.
