Longest nonstop passage on a powerboat?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.

Another casualty due to technology. When VHF was truly necessary to identify a distant vessel, radiomen would often strike-up conversations to relieve boredom. No more I guess.

Medic - you switched from a N55 to a North Pacific 49. How come?

It wasn't really a switch. I went three years without a boat and came to the conclusion that I was not likely to cross any oceans. The Nordhavns, which I love, are by necessity very complicated creatures, largely by the need for redundancy. All of those redundant features need maintenance, just as much as the equipment they are intended to replace if necessary. Since I will be within 20 miles of shore probably 95% of the time, and in friendly waters, my redundancy is a tow-boat.

And then, of course, cost. The NP49 is right around one-half the cost of a similarly sized Nordhavn.

BUT, COVID, and all the hysteria around it has hurt my business a lot, and so even Mimi's Oasis, the NP49 is currently for sale.

Not to worry, I'm already thinking of my next boat for maybe 2 years from now.
