Let's play a game.
Let us say you have 500K burning a hole in your pocket. You want to liveaboard and cruise up and down the West Coast. The plan is, summers in PNW and winters in Mexico. What would you buy?
The rules:
1. It has to be a boat for sale today.
2. It has to be less then 50ft.
3. It has to be 500K or less.

Hans Christian independence 45'

Would rather have the Cherubini independence with a single (I have one ), but these are great boats to. If you're going to cruise the west coast down the Baha peninsula, twins are probably a good thing.

Willard 40 setup for cruising with paravanes

Great boat for the money. With what you save on this one, you can upgrade it anyway you want.

It blows your size limit, but Fleming 53. Very cool boats and real quality.

This thread could last all winter! You guys are being cheap. The OP gave you $500k to throw away!
I like this Selene 47. 1000 gallons of fuel, 2 heads, 2 staterooms, Naid stabilizers and a beautiful interior/exterior.

For the west coast, I'd want something solid, heavy, slow, and with round chines. A bluewater boat. Something like this Kadey Krogen 39, or this Nordhavn 46.

This covers all the bases for me in that it's ocean capable, motorsailer, beachable, 2,500 mile range on engine, and pretty much zero exterior maintenance above the waterline:

Oh yeah, I don't know how I forgot that. Mine is too! But Steve's boat is way overpriced. I'll sell you mine for $475k.
