But earlier today went for a 2.5 hour voyage. Winds were fairly strong from the south but there wasn't much fetch to create significant waves in Carquinez Strait which runs east-west.

Virtually no pleasure traffic. There were the usual Vallejo-San Francisco ferries, a small trawler catching fish bait, and several barges being pushed by tugs such as this one:

Here I am walking toward the exit of K dock. To the left is the Predator, presumably a boat for hire. Saw it last week with at least eight fishermen. They brought off a number of coolers. They all were happy which suggests their coolers were filled with fish.

A weekday cruise. I think they are the best!

I love this kind of post but Mark I'd call it a run ... not a trip or especially a "voyage" ... something may have happened that your'e not sharing that made it seem like one though. Perhaps you were alone and rescued a beautiful young girl in the drink w a small sailboat?

With pics I'd like to see many more Threads like this. The long trips are great but this kind of post w pics tells what it's like where you live and boat.

As to details about the pics I'd rather know about the old boat on the right.

Know little about the boat. It is a recent and probably temporary tenant to K dock due to dredging in the marina. It's all wood, under 30-feet in length, is in need of TLC, has straight stems.

Al'a probably right. . . . I vote full of empty beer cans. :socool:

Larry B,

One of several small trawlers that frequent Mare Island Strait collecting fish bait. Photo was taken some time ago. Didn't have my camera the other day to record a yellow-hulled trawler. (GF Perla took pictures with her cell phone that day.)
