Hello All.
The keel plate from my 1984 36-foot Island Gypsy fell off in the ocean. I hate it when that happens.
In my case this was a piece of bronze hardware that was screwed to the wooden keel and extended aft under the rudder, with the bottom of the rudder shaft sitting on the aft end of the keel plate. So now the rudder is just hanging on the rudder shaft with no support at the bottom.
I assume I will have to have the boat hauled out and a new keel plate fabricated. If anyone happens to have a similar vessel with a picture of the keel plate, that would be helpful to me. Any repair advice or comments, or similar experiences would also be very welcome.
Thanks. Jerry
