Most everything posted here is now out of date due to several companies coming out with better options, Starlink being the most well known, even though it hasn't made it down to the world wide cruiser. It's known that the current Starlink mobile unit works up to 12 miles offshore, so it's viable for coastal cruisers.

If you ever read Christi Grab's books The Accidental Circumnavigation, you'll remember they ended their story in Malaysia. I just heard from her they're cruising again in MX and using Starlink for school work for her son. Sounds like ot works very well..
