Interesting boats

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
There are some places where moving every day or 2 makes sense as there may not be a lot to see at every stop, so might as well keep moving until you get to an interesting spot. But in plenty of places, there's good reason to hang out for a bit. And there are always weather related reasons to stay put.

Never had a wheelhouse. Out in the elements enjoying the trip.

Roman Abramovich`s "Eclipse". Unfortunately, Roman(representing some Russian interests),and 2 Ukrainians, after holding it seems unsuccessful "peace talks" are reported to have come down with a mild form of poisoning despite only consuming water and chocolate during talks.

Yep, water bad
If he had a nice single malt or Heathcote shiraz with his chocolate all would be well.

Must have winch for those fenders! Filled with helium?? :D

When at look these boats I can appreciate most of them. Would I want to own one, no.
With bigger boats come bigger problems. No longer can you take the boat alone. Paid crew and I don’t want that. You can tell them where and when you want to go.

This is so true. I sometimes think about getting a bigger boat, but unless we are living on it there is no way I could keep up with the added complexity and maintenance. My lovely wife is not ready to give up the house and live on a boat, but I continue to promote that idea whenever possible. [emoji51]

But my favorite was this classic 62 Nordhavn we saw in Palm Gardens thanks to James Knight. We are still looking after not purchasing the 64 Grand Alaskan.

I always dream for the bigger newer better.....but I think there is a limit. I see these mega yachts that are being impounded and I think that even if money were no object....that is just NOT my idea of boating. When you have 15 staterooms, a helipad, a few 30 foot tenders and a staff of a dozen it is not boating anymore....it's just comfortable mobile living quarters. You fly in to Miami and spend a few days in your 1st class accomodations that just happens to obey Bernouli's principle.....then you say "meet me in Nassau in a week"....and you fly into Nassau and enjoy the luxury..... I think this misses the essence of boating. Once in a while you need to push the limits of your foul weather gear......taste the salt spray over the bow and realize that you are at the mercy of Mother Nature. If I had Bill Gates type money I don't think I'd go much bigger than 60 feet or so.....at some point it just doesn't seem like boating anymore.

I completely agree. At a certain point it's no longer boating, it's project management. Then after that, when you're paying crew & your captain's doing the project management it's being a CEO of an extremely unprofitable company. I don't want to do either of those things in my spare time or my eventual retirement.
