That bridge action was used to get the exact 45 degree angle!

Okay. One more to ponder. It certainly has it's place. Probably a little small, though, for most folks on the forum.

I hope this isn’t an inappropriate use of the thread - sort of new here. The boat is interesting to my parents anyway, and I was curious what you folks think of it? If anything

Always have loved the True North boats, right up to the point they ruined the beautiful stern lines lines with outboards.

Looks to be good n' rugged. Would need to learn much more about it before purchase. $370K buys a lot of used boat in the 34' range. Your folks should be be careful to find out all they can about Volvo engine... although never owning one there are many who have and afterward shy away. Go to "Search" venture at page top and look up Volvo threads/posts... Some say OK, others say never again! Good Luck!

I agree. Beautiful boats. Felt the same way when Back Cove started pushing OB and now even Hinkley is building some. Interesting that their home page crops the photo to remove the OBs.

https://www.hinckleyyachts.com/yachts/

I used to think it was heresy to strap OBs on some of these traditional looking boats. Over the last few years, I've started to accept and warm up to the idea somewhat. Quieter, faster, more interior room. I wonder if the trend will continue in the face of much higher gas prices. Cruising at 30-40 knots is attractive and probably a blast, until you glance at the gas gauge. Any thoughts on gas engines and a diesel generator?

Looks more like a work boat to me. Guess it depends on what their intent is. If strictly for a couple to cruise, I think there are better options for that price. It's probably very utilitarian, but not particularly attractive to me. I also know little about Volvos and jet drives, but that sounds like potentially expensive maintenance.

Que lastima! The world may be turning to outboards. How about the OXE 300 HP Diesel outboard? Does not address your concern about "stern lines" but that is a lot of diesel to hang on a bracket.

Hinckley used to make beautiful sailboats. The 70' was awesome. The Sou'Wester 53 looked very interesting, too. https://www.hinckleyyachts.com/model.../souwester-53/

I am starting to look more favorably on outboards than I used to. They seem to be more robust and reliable these days. The True North 39 is rated at 700 hp with two outboards. I would like to have a single Mercury Marine V12 600hp on the back. The motor does not swivel like other outboards. Only the bottom end pivots - and it pivots more than the whole motor would.

I'm a sucker for the canoe stern. Too bad this boat is 11,000 miles away. Any delivery captains here in for an epic trip?

Aren't these new designs of old designs interesting? All that is needed is a few of these for light protection. But I do like the design and somewhat sinister look. Perhaps this is not really an inverted bow that we are seeing these days but it does lean towards that look.

and so does my 165 HP inboard diesel. But than you were comparing with gassers, yes?

Oh yes, we all know diesels are much heavier of course than gas. We fly a diesel aircraft and use Jet A, has it's trade offs but love it. I would rather have a diesel outboard if I had to have one, but it amazes me how much weight you can hang off the back of a boat. Talk about strong, some of these gas engined boats have 4 5 an even 7 engines on the back. Lots of benefits to outboards in certain sized boats but it amazes me how they can be mounted on the transom.

Interesting. The photos show the interior and instruments to be from an era
earlier than 2000 though. I wonder what's up there?

I also noticed the unusually older genre of combined dash equipment.
