Another thread had mention of regular schedule for injector service. I have never had mine serviced and the engine runs fine for the past 12 years. Is this something that should be done regularly or is it `don’t fix it if it ain’t broke`?

On my Ford Lehmans, I had it done every 2000 hours, and it made a difference. I had the two injectors on my Onan generator serviced and it made a HUGE difference.

You should consult your engine's manufacturer and/or the marinediesel.com site to get some recommendations, but on the whole, I'd do it if I were you.

Thanks Rich, will look into it.

Check out sbmar.com (Tony Athens). He used to give advice on the boatdiesel site. He has many tips and advice and a forum for questions.

What are they doing to service them?

My Lehman 225’s starting smoking and wouldn’t make more than 1800 ish rpm.

I dumped a bunch of Lucas fuel injector cleaner into the tanks and took the boat out and ran it hard (2000+ RPM for an hour). They cleared right up and run awesome now.
