Hurricanes and other trivia . . .

Just a word to the wise to anyone who might be new to Florida, or visiting down here with a trawler. Generally speaking, September is our worst month for hurricanes here. I check the National Hurricane Center website at National Hurricane Center twice a day during this time of year. They put out advisories every 6 hours. I would not in the least presume to tell anyone what they should do if a hurricane is headed their way, other than to tell you that the authorities go a little crazy here (they are in Florida anyway, even under the best of conditions).

Greetings,
Mr. jwnall. Sound advice to be sure. I've been watching what has now been named Gabrielle for the last week or so. Lollygagging around the Carib' doing a whole lot of nothing until today. Interesting situation. This was forecast to be a busier than usual hurricane season as were the last two years and nada....That being said, there are now 4 areas of concern I'm watching.

Yeah, I'm watching Ms. Gabrielle also. I think that she is going to spin off up toward the Northeast Atlantic and not touch the U.S., but one just never knows.

Sept. 10 is the peak of hurricane season. Just because it's started off slow doesn't mean it won't get REAL active any day now.

Ad now we have Humberto, but it also looks to be going to be on a track which will keep in the Eastern Atlantic. Fine with me.
