Humminbird Transducer for 987C Combo Unit

Hi Guys: Rainy Day in Tennessee!
I have a question maybe some one has tried this one.
I have a 987C Combo unit which I have a thru hull transducer for and it is plastic and not allowed on a non trailerable boat .This is a side scan unit as well as GPS,Plotter combo and I want to use it on my 38 footer as a shoot thru hull transducer.Do you think it will work in a box with mineral oil or like solution as a shoot thru.
A Bronze transducer is 400.00 and I am in process of sealing up a lot of unwanted holes on the hull from previous installation over the last 40 years. Thanks,Bill

Airmar manufactures a wide range of transducers that will interface correctly to your head unit. They have a cross reference option at the bottom of their home page under "support". They may have a less expensive alternative for a brass/bronze thru hull type transducer.*
