Purchase

Hello, I'm in the process of buying a 2007 34' Mainship Trawler and will soon go through the sea trail and survey process. With only 450 hours on her I think she'll pass with flying colors. My question; Is there anyone out there that can give me a heads up on potential problem areas that I should give particular attention to? Thanks for your help.

Don't get deluded into thinking 450 hours means no problems. A 7 year old lightly used vessel can suffer more from sitting than being used. For starters, when was the last time ALL of the yearly required engine book maintenance was performed? Or does the flow from the exhaust elbow allow water to backflow into the engine during shutdown or stem wave intrusion while at rest (a Mainship watch item)?

As well as soliciting comments here, go to Mainship's Owner's website and ask away at issues to look for, they know and talk freely about them.

Seaguy, Welcome to the Trawler Forum. I can't help you with Mainship knowledge, but here a link to the corner where the Mainship guys hang out. I hear they're a nice crowd.
