Hempel Silic One Bottom Paint

My bottom paint is Hempel Silic One ablative paint. Data sheet says that it is silicone-based and that it may be over-painted with other brands of antifouling. I don't know what silicone-based means. I am concerned that I may have problems switching to one of the Micron paints. Does anyone have experience with over-painting this paint with a different antifouling?

The manufacturer of your new paint will usually tell you whether it's compatible over your older paint. I would pick a new paint and email the manufacturer to see if it's compatible over your old.

I switched from an ablative to a hard paint and ended up sanding the old off. It was worth the cost (peace of mind) which was about the same as my new paint.
