Heading down the Baja Coast!

Gentlemen, we have had a great time in Ensenada!
The marina is as good as it gets. It is clean, the services are exceptional, the people are friendly.

The climate in Ensenada is pretty much perfect. I make fun of the chilly nights, but during the day it's warm and sunny with highs in the 70's.

All that said, it's time to move on. My adventure was never planned to stop in ensenada, it was planned to explore the Sea of Cortez, which takes us to todays adventure.

We have left Ensenada as of about 3:30 AM. We are running about a hundred miles to San Quintin.

We will continue down the coast and plan on being in Cabo in 10-12 days.

Keep us posted about what you encounter along the way. Fuel prices and availability, marina prices, Covid nonsense, etc .

Have a great trip, I wish I was going with you.

We are safely anchor's in 20' of water at Baja San Quintin

The anchorage is nice and calm. It's been a long day, time for some rest.

Doug should be here momentarily.

Todays plan is to leave a bit before noon and drive overnight to the south side of Cedros Island. Doug Aboard his Willard left around 0900 and we will catch up with him.

The distance is 153 NM and the trip is expected to take 20 hours. This puts us at Cedros at around dawn.
We will then decide if we want to rest at Cedros or continue on to Turtle Bay.

Today is is Perfect weather. The wind is light, and the bay is flat. We are not exploring here in part because we have some weather coming in on Saturday night and we want to be in Turtle bay where it is better protected.

The stretch you are about to cross is usually the roughest of the pacific side of baja. i think you measured your weather correctly. spend some time at the town in cedros its a nice little place.

I am happy to report that after cruising all night we are approaching Turtle Bay.

There is a distinct change in temperature. We seem to have left the ocean cool of Ensenada and are in the climate of the southern Baja now.

The water has warmed up to 67, and we are going to try to fish the channel ahead.

Judging by your wake the cruising speed looks pretty efficient. How is the forecast looking for the next few days? Are you carrying any deck fuel? Stay safe.

We are running at 1300 rpm, 7.3-7.5 knots

We are going to top off at turtle Bay and do not think we will need fuel, but we are playing it safe abnd have 60 gallons on the deck

We're going to hang out in Turtle Bay for a few days and then look at the forecast.
