Nearly 26 months after capsizing in the St Simons Sound, the last section of the Golden Ray has been removed from the site and is on its way to Brunswick to be dismantled.

Hopefully, the girnomous erector set known as the VB-10000 which has been towering over the island for 18 months will soon be gone as well.

There is still much cleanup to do with a significant amount of debris still sitting under the water, and, of course, there is still 1.4 million feet of netting and 86 piles that will have to go. I figure at least 6 more months.

But, for the first time, it actually feels like the finish line is in sight. Maybe...
