Fu Hwa recommendation

My wife and I live in the Pacific Northwest and sold our 36 Uniflite last year. We have been looking at the trawler class of boats for the things we seek in our next one.

We are going to look at a 1985 Fu Hwa Nova 38' with twin Perkins 6-354. In my research, it looks like the Taiwan boats are prone to window leaks. Any other issues to be aware of? I dont think she has teak decks.

Thanks!

You are Blessed!

Look very carefuly for for rot,,,,, deck, PH and Fly bridge floor where there are any fastenings.

Not re-bedding in time (what me worry?) is a common cause for rot in many areas , not just the windows.

Just like a wooden boat , the Smell will Tell.

Good info FF, thank you. Are Fu Hwa/ Nova known for any deficiencies such transom rot, bad stringers, etc? I know every maker isnt without its flaws (some more than others), we just want to make sure we are doing our homework.

Our sights were toward a different class or model of powerboat but the more I looked at trawlers, the more plusses showed up than minuses.
