This kettle strikes me as the kind of thing I'd think was quite nifty. I'd buy one and never collapse it after opening it up. On my boat I have a smaller kettle that's pretty much that size and when underway, being lazy I just throw it in the sink.

Going to take a hard pass on chinese-made 'food grade' silicone for anything involving repeated heating. Better to stick with an all-metal unit to avoid anything leeching out of the materials.

Cool idea! I could definitely use one in my van as we use an electric tea kettle and Aeropress for coffee in the morning.
