Nah, hitting a log at 20 knots on your first sea trial after a long refit, gets the blood pumping faster.

Hmmmm, I wonder if the flight wing and ammo and avgas were on board?

Thanks for posting

I was on Carl Vinson (CVN70) for shock trials post delivery in the 80's, pretty cool, other than I was in the propulsion plant, no AC and steam driven pumps in summer:)

Avgas? What century are we in?

No.... the air wing had better things to do than stand around and wait for the shock. Ya think an aircraft hitting the deck experiences less shock than that? .....and when they are aboard, they are on landing gear that if the chains aren't too tight it will absorb that shock.

Ammo? maybe, but probably not.....

No avgas since the 50's

Normally there is an old air frame on board instrumented, as is the entire ship, took a few months to set up, and a couple to remove. Weapons are instrumented dummies also. Quite an impressive deal, believe me everything is an engineering study.

I am doing a sea trial tomorrow, but not going to try that, al least I hope not.
