Need for firearms on boats?

How many boaters, NY citizens, or just passing through have been attacked, assaulted, robbed, or otherwise violated in NY or anywhere else while cruising in the recent past years?

Sorry folks the thread has been closed. We are a boating forum and members have opinions that are widely varying. The discord sown by a handful of topics (politics, weaponry, religion) damages the community in ways that are difficult to reconcile. There are plenty of places on the web to carry on discussions about guns/weapons but only a few places to discuss boating. Please help keep the board free of the rancor that pervades this season.
