Confirming a boat is USCG documented

I'm trying to confirm that a boat we're hoping to purchase is documented by the USCG. I do have a documentation number. I went to the USCG website and have been unable to figure out how to search their documentation database. What am I missing?

Enter the doc number in the “official number” tab and search...or use the Hull ID number.

The most important part of checking the document is weather there are charges or liens against the boat.

The way to do that is to order a USCG abstract of title. Costs a few bucks, but don't buy a boat without it.
