Need direction as to best source as to locating preowned trawler to be used for limited cruising in the Abacos from Green Turtle to Little Harbor? Live aboard for say up to 6 months then on the hard in Abacos
For 6 months. 2 cabins/berths a must. Budget 100k. This is 2nd home in retirement.

Also estimate as to 6 month’s covered dry storage cost to include routine annual maintenance?

Your requirements will take at least a 36' trawler to satisfy. A Mainship 350/390 would be a good choice and should fit your budget. But lots of other choices like Marine Traders, Albins, CHBs, even a Grand Banks 36.

Don't know of any covered, land storage in the Abacos and uncovered will be difficult and expensive to find.

Do you have residency or citizenship status in the Bahamas? If not, you will be cruising under an annual cruising permit ($300) which requires the boat leave the country for a period of time before entering again - budget for all that. If you plan to stay longer than 12 months, special arrangements must be made with Bahamas Customs and Immigration. As for being on the hard in somewhere like Marsh Harbor or Treasure Cay, I'd budget around $600-$800 per month for a boat the size you are considering (2 cabins probably equates to 40+ boat).

Awesome plan...best of luck!

www.yachtworld.com Not necessarily the only ones on the market, but a broad enough selection to try and figure out what you want. Use the "advanced search" option.
