Boat Name installed

Hi : I hope all is well in everyone's port!! I* have been working on the boat and got the name* and port installed today on my new gelcoat hull and it sure looks nice so I wanted to post a couple of photos of it.

HI Chris& all you guys for the comments!
The name was on the boat when I got it and it was documented under that name.I have been trying to find the meaning as the boat came from Norfork,Va and is a 1967 model 38foot CC Commander.She was stripped of most everything they could sell and get off fairly easy when I bought her she was a steal at 950.00 and cost 4,000.00 to get it hauled from Deale,Md to Winchester and I did the escort work myself.I have been working on her for 2 1/2 years trying to do something almost every day so I wouldn't lose interest and give up.
The original owner had her documented and was valid till 1993 after that no other information and she had several owners . She was on the back row at the marina a nd I got the boat off e-bay.I have never had her in the water so splash day will be a big event!! See Ya,Bill

She is a great boat but very lucky she found you.

If you did it yourself was it sent to you as one or two components (gold on green or gold and green)?

HI Boydster: I got the name from a graphics shop locally and my son and I installed it.It was in 2 parts.The gold part was put on first and then the green part was installed over the gold part.We alingned the gold letters up first and then centered the green letters on the gold ones.I wasn't hard to do took a little time getting on like I wanted it.Cost 100.00 for the letters done that way and we did the rest as the boat is long way from the sign shop however they do a lot of cars and trucks and commercial stuff.They were very helpful in explaining how to do the job.Thanks for the replys! Hi Don: Thanks for the reply! Maybe I will run into you some day as I am a Old Chattanooga Boy from way back!Ha I was from East Lake area and was a great place in the 40's 50'60' and then she went down fast and population changed.
Do you remember the Rebel Drive inns restaurants?I built the first on on Rossville Blvd in 1959 and sold it in 1961? See Ya,Bill Smith

Bill, I was born in East Lake!* Graduated from the "Old Central".* Small world.* I do remember the Rebel Drive Inn.* We cruised them all including the Cotton Patch.* Those halycion days will never return, but we are still doing fun things---just different.

I'm sure you remember the Chris-Craft plant in East Lake.* Maybe that is why your preference for the brand.* Bring that Chris up to Chattanooga.* I'm one block from the downtown waterfront.* We'll show you all the changes in town since you left.

I remember the word Tawanda being used in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, ya suppose it may have been derived from that?

We ordered our lettering from Captn John's Boat Lettering online and they did a really great job and we were able to install without much effort at all. We're actually pretty proud of how well it turned out.

Hey Don:Yes,I have a lot of Chattanooga but been away for years last time I lived there was in 72 and was in Brainerd close to the school.We do have a lot in common I am sure as I was a builder for 15+ years and built many Lake homes on Tims Ford Lake.
I think I know about where you live up on the hill.Do you live in one of the restored older homes? Boy they were really nice in the early years.See Ya,Bill

Bill, I live in town home project that we are developing.* We have the city block bounded by Cherry, Walnut, 2nd, and 3rd.* One block East of Market. We'e still at it.* I haven't gotten smart enough to quit yet.

HI Rocky: Thanks for the reply also!! I am sure the original owner is long gone and I did find a town in Va by that name as well as one in Pa. So maybe it was that or his wife was Wanda.Ha I didn't want to go thru the ceremony to change the name.Have you ever been aware of that deal.ha Have to have lots of booze and stuff to say and all it is quiete a deal...
I thought about having the documentation renewed but decided against it due to the waste of time and cost and I will never need it.Spring isn't long off and I am really happy about that.. SEE YA,BILL

Hey Don: Only reason I quit was my health was bad due to heart trouble over a 35 year period.I didn't get rich by any means but did meet some great folks while I was in it and really like the business althought the liability is great especially now with the Ins,compensation,SS & Unemployment a load for sure.
Speaking of the Cotton Patch,Ole John Cotton was a really good friend of mine for many years and he was a character for sure..Ha
My Uncle,Harl Smith was a builder in Chattanooga for many years,he did Concord Hights in EastBrainerd and several other for years.
I am sure you knew Tommy Rogers as well as his dad who owned Rogers Food King on Main Street .They were friends also.Well maybe we will meet some day I hope so.See Ya,Bill

We got our trawler last July, and we did change the name and you're right ...there's alot of hullabaloo and superstition when ones does this, it was a pain but glad now that we did it.
