Best way from Lake Michigan to Illinois River?

Looking at a delivery job (40' Carver DC) in the coming month. What's the better of the two ways to get from the Lake to the River?
Thanks in advance.

If you're under 17 ft air draft you can go through downtown. More than that and you have to take the Calumet route.
