We went with Beacon many years ago. After 6 years and wasting our time and money we gave up on them. Smart phones have not helped their business either.

I've found Beacon generally too slow to be useable, or not functioning at all. I'm in La Conner right now, and I see the Beacon network, but when I connect I can't even get to the login page.

I use Beacon to update Coastal Explorer and get weather updates while at the dock, but it is too slow for running any boat network media applications including music streaming. I can also connect to Xfinity wifi, which can be a little faster, and you have to have a Comcast account. For most media, I tether my phone to the boat network and use data.

Horrible

Have it at Marina in San Diego Difficult to connect to. If you finally get connected, dropped connections common. SLOW. Low bandwidth. Their website leads you to believe they are amazing. Yeah, not so much. Customer service guarantees the problem is yours, but they'll sell you fixes! :banghead:

fix

 Yeah, that’s that's their spiel.
"Its because you're on an iPad". I switched to laptop.
"You're too far away". Dude, it's less than 50'!
"Oh, you're too close then"!!! :banghead:
"well, you're on a boat which blocks the signal". Uh, (pause :confused:) it's a fiberglass boat, not a metal ship.
"It's all the electronics and wiring". Sir, I'm sitting in the bow of my boat, all electronics are nowhere near me. They're all turned off.... actually... the breaker is off, there isn't even any power to them.
"Well, we do sell a booster that should solve all your problems". Uh-huh... :nonono:

Well after a few emails and no fix I closed my account with them looking for Internet now

Everett, WA has in the marina, and we use it quite a bit. About as fast as our Verizon 4G connection we use while traveling the US with the land yacht. We use WiFi when available to reduce our usage. When you are a homeless vagabond, you use what is available :D
