Took a 48' Navigator from the Bradenton, FL area to Mobile, AL last week. The forecast called for 1' seas at 4 second intervals when crossing the Gulf and there was a storm down south of the Yucatan peninsula that NOAA said was unlikely to develop. Looked like a good crossing opportunity so we headed out across the Gulf.

After dark, it became 3' seas on the beam... and the autopilot was out. That was a long, long evening.

Then we arrived in Appalachicola and the forecast changed so we held for two days to let Hurricane Zeta pass through. Those are some nice folks at Scipio Creek marina. The rest of the trip went fairly smooth.

Next one up is a Nordhavn to Ft Lauderdale and then a 40' Mainship to Mobile in December. All weather-dependent, of course.

How did that Navigator handle those beam seas?

The boat, itself, handled it pretty well. Rolly, as expected. But not enough to even knock the unmounted TV off the shelf.
