Anchor chain/rode passage protection?

Hello fellows,
I just did fix my bow pulpit where the chain/rode is going through the pulpit as the chain/rode rubbing eroded the paint and allowed for some small water leak.
Would you have any idea for something like rubber to protect the pulpit?

You could use something like Starboard. It is easy to work with using regular woodworking tools. Or something like UHMW plastic. It is a bit tougher and more slippery.
