Anchor bridle-above or below the water?

Most use a snubber/bridle with all chain to prevent shock loading.


All chain is a choice of convenience and not a problem....only if you experience shock loading and aren't using a snubber/bridle.

I use a single 1/2 inch 3 strand nylon snubber with a grab hook. Hook is just into the water. Line sits next to the chain on the roller.
When the wind pipes up I like the snubber to be stretched out all the way and only a few links of chain loose.
This way at high winds they are working almost as one.
Snubber is wrapped around the base of the sampson post 2 times then cleated just below the post
