Alcan or Alwest

Has anyone ever owned an Alcan or Alwest boat? Not sure if they fit the trawler idea but they have lots of living space.

Looks like you haven't had much luck with your query. I am searching for a smaller sized trawler and have come across a couple of Alcans here in the great lakes (where they were originally made). Looking at them I am a bit concerned that they were made for cruising canals and wouldn't be suitable for open water - by which I mean cruising the Great Lakes NOT crossing an ocean.

Anyone out there care to venture an opinion?

If its the Alcan houseboat that was built in the 70's , I had friends who owned and lived aboard one. Well built but outdrives....
