Albin 34 Review

Hello,

We have owned a 1986 Albin 34 (hull # 3) for 11 years and love it! Paumanok has a full flybridge with bench seating along the sides. She is unusual in that the saloon has a soft enclosure with strata glass. There are pictures of her on the Albin Owners Group which is an excellent resource. She has a reliable Cummins 210 Turbo engine and we cruise between 10-11 its burning a little less than 5 gph (can get her up to about 14 kts). She came to us as a vessel that pretty much was made to travel from marina to marina - not our kind of boating. We installed a 3k generator on the flybridge in between the benches and Ron made a nice box to cover it that has a teak top, serving as a cocktail table when the generator isn't running. We use the inefficient Norcold refrigerator that came with her as a storage cabinet and Ron converted the icebox into a Isotherm refrigerator/freezer drawing very little energy and keeping food frozen in the bottom. We also installed two 100 W solar panels that keep the batteries charged up at anchor or on our mooring. We replaced the bow thruster with a Vetus 7.5 with its own designated battery (our Windlass runs off that battery too). We find her to be extremely comfortable for living aboard weeks at a time. We live on Cape Cod and regularly travel to Block Island, Martha's Vineyard, Cuttyhunk, Nantucket, Boston, Salem to name a few places.

We've made many more modifications and lots of delayed maintenance. Please contact us if you have any questions.
