42' Bristol Trawler

The friendliest place on the web for anyone who enjoys boating.

Probably 270 HP total boat. I have a few weeks worth of cruising experience in a Bristol 42. Rounded chines and will roll at the pier with little inducement. Handled a head seas well. Poor visibility through the too-high forward windows at the lower station. Did not enjoy the slider doors port and stbd.

Yes I allredy spotted the too high windshields. I would replace them with longer ones down to the level of the dash. My thoughts too about total of 270hp.

Did you ever look at that boat? Was it truly twin 270 hp Perkins?

Windless, are you in a position to change out your engine, or is that not a consideration?

Hi all. Just checking in as a (somewhat) new-to-me 1980 Bristol 42 owner. Purchased her about 15 months ago. Any current Bristol 42 owners still out there?

I haven't taken her on many long trips yet as work is all-consuming these days. Would love to hear others' experiences with their Bristols.

Cheers!
