Our herring season is very short, only a few days. During this time there multiple fishing trawlers out in the Strait of Georgia close to French Creek BC, working around the clock until the season is declared over. Normally this marina is sleepy hollowish, but now its buzzing with fishing activity, boats in and out of the harbour, and folks down watching the action on the water, both out in the Straits and in the marina.

Today's date is 9 March 2019 and the season will be over in a few days. If you live somewhat locally, head over and join the crowd to watch our very short fishing season in action.

There are massive Sea Lions breaching, and Orcas have been seen off the shores, and Sea Gulls come in the thousands.

Our herring fishery should be starting soon as well. This is from back in the day when it was pretty much a free-for-all.

Saw some spawning just outside our marina today. Pretty sure it's the start of the run.

Looking at the Alaska video and the fisherman boating all over the place, our guys are almost at a stand still.
