We are heading up the coast in early Sept. I would like to stop off along the south, Lag Beach coast, anchor up, and go for a swim.

I worked on the DP fishing boats in the 80's, and anchored in that area many times, and remember getting hung up on rocks a few times.

I know wave action can be an issue, so if a good south is running, I would not do it.

Does anyone have any numbers they can send me for some sandy bottom areas, about 15-20 ft. of water? I was hoping for the south side of Lag Beach, just north of DP, and near the 3 arch area.

PM also works.

Thanks in advance.

I have seen boats anchored off of CDM park just to the south side of the Newport Beach jetty. The jetty blocks the prevailing wind/swell.

Further south you can just anchor off of Main Beach Park in "downtown" Laguna Beach in settled weather. No rocks there.

Emerald Bay in between the two looks good. Nice wide beach, no rocks and maybe some protection from Emerald Point.
