Talking Lopez Island Fourth of July Fireworks

Is anyone attending the fireworks show this year? We will be in the upper end of Fisherman's Bay this year.

No. We'll be in Juneau. Don't plan to get off the ship. Been there how many times?

I have been going on and off for the last 35 years or so. My uncle is one of the founding members of the fireworks show and one of the head pyrotechnicians. I remember going down to the south end of the island to watch them light them off by hand.. It was never a long display, but the danger factor was really high. I remember a few times there were some close calls and fires that lit off the entire displays at once.. They are much more orderly and larger nor. But it is a display that should not be missed if you are in the area. I have never seen a fireworks show that compares to it except the ones sponsored by big cities like boston or new york.
