Duffy Electric Boats

Are there any Duffy Electric Boat clubs out there?
The company has published information that says they have made over 10,000 boats since 1970, 3,000 of which are in Newport Beach, CA. and yet I can find no Duffy clubs on the Web. What's up with that?

There are two in our marina, and another one on a private dock across the bay. During the summer we see them frequently, silently gliding by with guests enjoying wine, cheese and crackers...

Funny how we assume the wrong thing. I posted those links 3 months ago and wondered why you hadn't responded. You are usually very courteous / polite in responding to others posts, so I wondered why you hadn't responded. It never occurred to me that you hadn't seen the post. Wished I'd PM'd you 3 months ago.

I feel a need to clarify my tardiness in responding to some of you since I sold my diesel powered boat & decided to investigate all electric vessels, I have been consumed with that effort. I don't visit TF as often as I once did because about the only thing my Duffy has in common with trawlers is the speed! (6-7 knots) I have now owned this boat for 1 month, am learning how she responds to the helm (immediate!) and how long I can go at full throttle on a full charge. (About 6+ hours) I am fascinated at the technology that Duffy has put in this boat and I've completely fallen in love with it. At my age and sporting a disagreeable prostate, (The main reason I bought the model with a marine head, not a portapotty) this boat fits my life style (laziness) and the desire to be on the water to a tee!

I don't have any pics of the inside of the frig but it does have 12 beers 9 water bottles! I'm never going to repeat the abuse that was aimed at me for showing the inside of the frig on SeaHorse II. Come to think of it, it wasn't me. it was Flywright that posted that pic!

Circuit Breaker's frig.

Of the electric boats, we are looming at the Alva 60, and Silent 55. The best weve seen so far. Theres a smaller one looks pretty good too, the Herley powercat 3400. It even has 2000nm range , but too small for us.

Are you keeping the boat in Coronado? How far up the bay have you ventured? I'll keep an eye out for you when I get my Lindell down.

BTW, The only through hull on the boat is on the port side, above the water line, which services the bilge. The only source of bilge water is from rain and boat washings. No underwater through hulls, no diesel smell, no property tax, or any of the other things that used to drive me nuts!

Hello Walt

Walt, I’m glade to see you back on the water after selling your beautiful boat. Great choice with the Duffy which keeps things simple and stress free. Are you still at Sunroad? What size is the new boat?
