The city council voted to close the marina in a development plan for the riverfront. The old downtown area is a short walk from the marina with several choices for meals, shopping and drinks. For the last few years the city has let the marina facilities go to hell, no longer sold fuel, let it silt in so only boats with out drives or outboards could get in or out. I suspect this was with a eye to having a excuse to close it and no longer provide a marina for its residents and river travelers. Someone started a save the marina page on FB and it had 3000 followers in 11 hours. A committee has been formed to gather signatures on a petition to save it, the councils vote isn't a done deal yet.
