1987 Californian 42 Motor Yacht

Still working the final engine survey and sea trial for this boat and I am becoming confused as I research this model. Does anyone have knowledge of the 1987 42 Californian that was built by Carver. The only brochure that I have found that matches this boat exactly is a 1987 Californian 45....no brochure available for a 42.

So, is it a 42 or a 45? Would there be a makers plate in addition to the HIN? I saw mention of a 1987 45 that was originally built as a 42....so shouldn't there be a brochure for a 42?

Yes, I should drive down to Chattanooga and just measure it.....and the bridge clearance (which is what I am trying to figure out to see if it will fit in the slip I have back on Watts Bar.

I would be grateful to anyone who can help shed light on this.....

So it’s a 42’ for sure…can only find specs for a 1987 45’ that looks identical to our boat…except LOA.

Does anyone here have a 42 or 45 MY?

Can you post a picture of the boat?

My former boat was a 1977 42' Californian. It was was 41' 8" LOD, but that was not counting the bow pulpit or swim platform. So, the boat was at least 45' LOA.

It isn't uncommon for a marketing person to find the larger number over the years.

Pictures attached. She’s as 42MY that matches the Carver Cali 45MY exactly. I guess Carver decided to add the bow spirit to the length. Thanks to everyone for their responses.
