Hi all
Some will recognise my adventures here learning to do my own maintenance as now retired and funds limited. NewAnchor rode all installed and working.
Have finally sourced a new Saltwater pump for the generator from SeaMech in QLD, just need to modify the bracket as pulley on this one is press fitted not bolt on.
Question: I notice all the parts on the generator have been painted (white) assume for rust preventtion, the new pump is brass by the look does it need painting?

Question: is there guidance anywhere on tensioning the drive belt, ie how much give should it have (if any?)

Cheers and thanks for all the ongoing advice.

No need to paint a bronze pump. Do it if you want to.

Belt just needs to be lightly snug. I know, WTF does that mean?!!! Really, snug the belt so you can wiggle it a bit with fingers, engine shut down of course!!

As long as belt does not skid on machine startup, it is good enough. Pump takes some grunt to get moving, but once running the load is very little. And too tight puts a lot of load on pump bearings, which is not good.
