Selection of first vs last posts

I seem to be at odds with the site when selecting newest entry first on the various threads.* Is there any way to select the order of entry display and make it permanent?

Click "user details" at the top, then under profile, click settings, and there are a lot of things you can customize, including ordering of posts.
