Hi all, I am replacing my old rusted chain with a fresh new one. However, the chain locker is extremely rusty/ dirty from the chain. I will clean it out the best I can but then I am thinking I should coat the inside of the locker with something? It is a fiberglass compartment.Thoughts?

Several coats of gelcoat.

Thanks for the suggestions. Appreciate it.

I would think Bilge Coat paint would be very likely to chip and flake off.

Grey AF comes to mind but it may turn into powder in the bottom of the locker. But the AF (If it’s not the hard stuff) will never need scraping or wire brushing. Also it very likely will tend to reduce mildew and related growth at bay.
And if it turns to powder it should be easy to vacuum out.
