As planned, I installed my chartplotter/fishfinder and VHF radio this weekend.
Overall, it went as planned -- I have a funky setup for the VHF antenna, since I couldn't find a way to mount it such that I could use the handle-mount to lower it. So at the end of the weekend, I needed to bring out a couple wrenches to take the mount apart. I may look at an upgrade there.
But I did get everything installed, minus the fishfinder transducer. The boat is up on the flybridge now, and out of the water, so the next time I go down to the boat I'll install it. The chartplotter feeds the VHF GPS info for DSC, and everything fits on the console well. I put the VHF below the wheel, similar to another poster that put his GPS down there -- need to be creative with such little room.
Overall, I'm happy with the choice. We'll see if it helps catch fish when the season opens in June.
